About Me
Hey! I'm Mariano from Guatemala. I currently study film in NYU (and graduating next year, I'm scared). I love rock music, writing, skateboarding, and learning about new places and its people. Excited to meet ya'll!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Whether in Guatemala, New York, or Czech Republic, getting to meet local people and learning about their lifestyle, culture, and ideals has been one of the best experiences. I believe traveling the world in this way is a great way to grow and to learn different stories. As Iroh from "Last Airbender" said: "It is important to draw wisdom from different places. If you take it from only one place it becomes rigid and stale". (Always geeking out over that show).
-Currently traveling Europe.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I guess the coolest thing I've done is getting into NYU for Film. Pretty surprised with how much the university helped out. It has been such a learning experience with different people. I'm slowly finding my voice and I'm currently writing my first feature film set in Guatemala. Hopefully that story will be the most amazing thing I have ever done, but for now, I wrote 8 songs with a friend and I'm in the process of starting a band, which is pretty cool I think.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: I can teach Spanish (I don't know if I'm a good teacher) and anything related from Guatemala and it's rich history and culture. I'm knowledgeable in many aspects of Filmmaking. Know little music theory but can play guitar decently.
Learn: I want to learn the values, cultures, problems, and anything related to the place I am visiting. Also I'm a terrible terrible cook, so if I can help with any meals, that would be a nice learning experience.
Share: I can talk about film and music for a long long time. We can share any life experiences (although trying to get that number up since I'm only 20)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share stories from the places I've been, the people I've meet, and if feeling emotional, I've got a lot of heartbreak stories (to be accompanied by some sad tunes). I would love to spend time with ya'll and make a friend :)
