About Me

Easy going, good listener, polite, clean and tidy. I love to listen and learn about people's lives and experiences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A friend recommended it to me. I'm going to be in Chile from mid February to beginning of March and would like to meet fellow traveler and locals to strike up conversations and maybe go on excursions together.

Interests

Exploring cities and finding the most beautiful buildings and the best places to have lunch.
Arts are a draw for me, I try to go to the theatre or to a gig once a month.
Sports are an essential part of my life, I swim and do yoga regularly and get outdoors as often as I can. Water is my element, I would try any sports taking place on or under water.

Music, Movies, and Books

My music tastes are eclectic. South African music puts me in a good mood when I'm stuck in traffic. The voices of singer songwriters like Suzanne Vega soothe me. When Otis Redding or Beatles songs starts playing, I sing along.

Cinema is the place I watch most movies, the last film I saw was 'Mia madre' by Nanni Moretti. TV series on Netflix are a bit of an addiction, watching 'The Good wife' at the moment.

One of the best present you could give me is a book as I am always looking for recommendations. I stick to fiction, with the odd historical biography thrown in. I'm currently reading 'Red dust road' by Jackie Kay.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most daring thing I did was move to Canada without knowing anyone there or having accommodation or a job. It all worked out OK and I had an amazing two years.

Teach, Learn, Share

In a previous 'career', I taught French as a foreign language in the UK, then in Canada. Some of my best memories from living in Toronto are evening classes where I taught adult students, we worked hard and laughed hard.

Foreign languages fascinate me and I have done several linguistic exchanges with friends where I have taught them some French and they have taught me a bit of their native language: Turkish, Spanish, Greek to name a few.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My experiences of living and traveling in various countries, a good conversation and a laugh.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, United States
