I will be spending 2 weeks with my partner NATAN between Squamish, Vancouver and Tofino at the end of the summer.
I have a toddler, who won't be traveling with us. Natan is an avid climber who shared his passion with me more than 5 years ago. It will be our first climbing trip outside of Quebec!

I am a 200hr certified Hatha yoga teacher. I haven't taught a class since 2019 but it has allowed me to deepen my understanding of the practice. Yoga's place in my life comes and goes. I would say that the physical practice is present and important at the moment, as I try to reconnect with who I am at my core. My partner says I'm a witch, but I promise I'm a good one :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As we are both students, and I am a mom as well, we can't afford hotels/hostels for that long. Plus, I have past experience couchsurfing and it's been wonderful every time!

I LOVE the feeling of traveling on a whim, discovering as you go, not knowing where I'll stay tomorrow. Natan is a bit more on the practical side and wants to plan things out a bit more. We were planning on renting a car to sleep in, but we can't really afford that either (and I would rather couchsurf :)). We will have our tent, sleeping pads and bags with us. So if you can only offer some land and a shower, we're happy campers!

We can be super discreet or share meals and hang out during our stay.

While in Squamish, we would love to meet people who can give us local expertise on climbing spots, maybe even climb with us for a day :) We love cooking and would gladly make dinner and dishes in exchange.

In Tofino, we'd like to rent some surf equipment and get two days of surf in before heading back to Vancouver, then home.

Interests

We are both big time coffee lovers, and enjoy hanging out in local cafés.

The last time I surfed was 8 years ago for 3 hours in Surfer's Paradise (Australia). I'm not really good :P

I've never ever ever led a climb, only top-roped indoors/outdoors. The aim of our time in Squamish is to get to know the area and for me to potentially lead my first route.

Music, Movies, and Books

I just love movies. LOVE. Not necessarily the good ones. Love the entertainment. Before being a single mom, I would go to the movies every week. I think my feel-good movie right now is Palm Springs with Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti. It's just a pleasant and fun watch.

I read a lot growing up, but my literature studies really took the passion out. I think I currently rather use my downtime to set my brain off and watch the screen to relax than read, but I want to change that (it takes about 2 hours to get my toddler to sleep every night, so I am EXHAUSTED after that).
My all-time favorite book is probably Milkweed. Read it thrice. My memory allows me to enjoy each read because I couldn't tell you more about it than "it's during WWII" even thought I read it more than once :')

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Travel/work/live in Australia when I was 20. I feel like I lived a lifetime within that year abroad.
Also, birthed my child. That's pretty amazing-incredible-scary-wild.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to learn some sport-lead climbing tips. It'll be my first time leading during this trip. I've climbed outside before, but we didn't get the conditions to go out much this year and I didn't have time to learn before all my friends left for Squamish in July :P
