About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Travel the world and meet people to learn from on the way
ABOUT ME
I'm Marie. Born and raised in Oslo, Norway, but I have homes all around the world.
I graduated from United World College Costa Rica May 2012. For those of you who don't know (most of you, I assume), UWC is a movement that unites people from all around the world and from different economic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds to "unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future" as hippie as that sounds.
I love travelling, meeting new people and cultures, good food and a good laugh
PHILOSOPHY
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover" - Mark Twain
I live by this quote and have done so for years.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I don't have a couch available at the moment as I'm a nomad with no set place to call home, but I share my culture and will cook you a good meal or a fantastic cake and teach you how to swear in Norwegian.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
As a relatively new surfer I have limited experience. I hosted some people when I was living in Norway, and love staying up late talking to travellers.
Interests
I have a passion for music and photography. I never go anywhere without my camera and I play music as often as I can. I've played the norwegian national instrument, the hardanger fiddle (looks like a violin with five strings underneath the regular four) since I was 9 and also play the guitar and some piano.

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy music in general, and I am always open for new genres and styles.
I like books that can enchant me and make me forget everything else.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Voulenteering in the slums of San José, Costa Rica. Talking about sexual education in a country where such a thing is controlled by the catholic church. Talking to women who hadn't left their homes in years, who only came out to join our workshop.
