ABOUT ME

We are Marie and Janne, two 19-year old girls from Belgium. We live in Hasselt, Limburg but during the week, we stay in Leuven where we both study Psychology at the University of Leuven. As we're living the good life as a student, we spend a lot of time together as friends. We're both committed as a monitor in a youth movement and are really proud of that. It's a place where we have met our best friends, have had the best experiences and have become very responsible. Furthermore, we're always in for either a good, profound conversation or one hell of a party and won't get easily bored. We are very interested in meeting new people and experiencing new things in life, and can't wait to see more of this big world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We don't have any CouchSurfing experiences yet, so this is quite new and exciting for us. We heard about CouchSurfing from Janne's brothers and Marie's brother and sister. Whenever they came back from one of their many trips, we heard the most amazing stories and so they made us warm to experience what they experienced as well!

Interests

We (and probably a lot of you couchsurfers as well) share our biggest dream: To travel around the world, discover new places (especially the ones many tourists have never even heard about), meet new people from all over the world, go on adventure and have those great experiences that will turn into great stories we'll tell years and years later.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Janne:
With my family, I've lived in Vancouver, Canada for one year when I was 3 years old and in Sydney, Australia for 6 months when I was 11 years old. I can't remember much of Canada (a very good reason to go back someday and I'm sure, one day I will!) so I'm grateful to my parents that they gave me another opportunity to experience a different country when I was older. I went to school in Sydney and I can't even describe how nervous I was the first day I had to go(probably the most exciting moment of my life), but I soon realised I had nothing to be afraid of. My good memories of Australia and the fact that my parents and two older brothers travel a lot has had an impact on me: I know that this world has a lot to offer. And I'm so glad I'm finally old enough to discover it on my own (or with a great friend like Marie ;))!

Marie:
Unfortunately, my parents aren't as fond of travelling as Janne's. But since last year, I feel like I'm slowly getting old enough to make up for this. Always watching my brother and sister leave with nothing else than a backpack and coming back with so much more.. Last year, I've been in London on my own, right now we're planning our trip to Portugal, I'm thinking about studying a year abroad, and sooner or later I'll travel to all parts of the world.
So maybe you should ask me again in about 20 years and I'm sure I'll have a lot to tell you :)
