Hi there,
My name is Marieke and I grew up in the beautiful medieval town right at the Baltic Sea called Luebeck.
Although that precious place on earth is worth a visit any time, I was still constantly tempted to leave it behind and go on adventures. Whether it was to go on student exchanges to France and New Zealand or for months of travelling in Central and Southern American countries, or to study and get an education - I moved to Latvia recently and I am currently living here.
As a person I am very interested - in anyone and anything. I love, love, love travelling, and meeting new people, going on adventures and experiencing new cultures, countries, landscapes and ways of living.
I am very active and I want to spend as much time as possible learning about my surroundings - and I´m always up to try new things.
I'm very open-minded, tolerant and outgoing and I enjoy getting into discussions about all kinds of issues and topics that seem interesting.
Not to mention that I´m very low maintenance and fun to be with, so I´m sure we´ll have a good time!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In my eyes, Couch Surfing is actually an amazing and unique way to get to know cultures and customs, ways of living and ideas of what life is actually about in foreign countries. It helps understanding one another, and builds up friendships that can last forever.

Interests

I personally love being outside, being active and involved in sports as hiking, swimming, sailing, I enjoy cooking, gardening, latin dancing, cinema, museums, going out with friends, I love animals and the countryside but I also enjoy the advantages of city life.
I also love surfing and horseback riding but I´m not exactly very good at any of those.
