About Me

I'm an adrenaline junkie with a knitting addiction. My lifestyle changes with the seasons but any mix of calmness and adventure feeds my soul. I grew up on the east coast of Canada with the highest tides in the world in my backyard and now live on the west coast with real mountains; so long as the ocean is nearby I'm a happy camper. I love laughing and telling stories, cooking and reading, being outside, learning new skills and practicing old ones, and many more things. I tend towards optimism whenever possible.
In the past year I have graduated university and moved across the country. I also completed my yoga teacher training and hope to start to offer classes soon in my new community. I work seasonally as a cook for an adventure tourism company that does boat tours in Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve, where I live on a floating lodge for most of the summer feeding and meeting amazing people.
I am a middle child (older brother, younger sister) and an aquarius which sometimes explains a few things about me. I have many life dreams and plans but currently am trying to not make plans for more than four months away.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have always enjoyed meeting people and being a social butterfly. I've hosted couchsurfers before in Halifax, Nova Scotia, through my roommates' account and found it to be a great experience. I love hosting people and traveling so couchsurfing is a great means to do that! Most of the traveling I've done has been for studies and so accommodation was not something I had to search for. Now I am planning my own travels and hope to enhance my experience in places by having local hosts and making friends around the world. My own living arrangements have been in limbo, very small, or highly communal for the past few years and so I have not made an account earlier but my living situation is changing and I look forward to showing people around my new home in Haida Gwaii, British Columbia, sometime soon.

Interests

Most things interest me... it can be a problem because I'm quite indecisive.
I love being active; hiking, kayaking, swimming, biking, surfing, climbing, skiing or snowboarding, slacklining, skating, dancing, I'm always down for a pickup game of any team sport. I'm interested in drinking tea most days and eating good food. I'm interested in learning the history and experiencing the charm of new places. Currently I am trying to learn what I can about harvesting local plants for different uses and becoming self sufficient at growing and hunting/catching food.
