ABOUT ME

Soy Caribeña (en parte). Entonces I need family and plenty of dancing, good music, and good food to stay alive. Work and sleep come second ;) I embrace my inner nerd. I LOVE making new friends, traveling, learning new languages, cultures, and world views. More into spirituality than religion. Womanist. Scholar. Future Educator/Philanthropist. I have big dreams. I do what it takes to make 'em happen.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Looking forward to my first surfing experience in Amsterdam. I hope to be able to host/explore with people when I get back to the states!

Interests

Dancing everywhere, volunteering, mentoring kids, language, (re)discovering music and cool places to fall in love with.

I'm a salsa/samba/bachata junkie. I grew up in el barrio de Spanish Harlem donde la salsa y old school mambo used to blast from windows and store fronts while old men played congas and dominoes :)

I love everything about Latin America and the Caribbean... the people, the culture, the food, the language (indigena y espanol alike).

Goals: Backpack South and Central America before I'm 30! Learn soccer and visit Brasil para la Copa Mundial en 2014!!!!

Music, Movies, and Books

Foreign films, action movies, and anything that can make me laugh. Just no scary movies. Lol.

Some all-time music favorites: Carlos Santana, Prince, Lauryn Hill, Fania All-stars, Marc Anthony, Ahmad Jamal, Aventura, Red Hot Chili Peppers. There is very little music in this world that I dislike. Salsa, soul, funk, jazz, rock, kpop, 60s/70s, hip hop, classical, alternative, r&b, reggae, samba... you name it and I'll prob have it on my iPod. I genuinely appreciate get-to-know-you playlists :)

Favorite Books: Journey to the Center of the Earth, Cyrano de Bergerac, Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters, Memoirs of a Geisha, Wraeththu, comic strips/manga (Ranma 1/2, Charlie Brown, The Boondocks)
