We are two nomads from St.Petersburg, Maria and Kirill. Our philosophy is that it’s interesting everywhere in the world and in any place you can find something what makes you a little bit better and fill your inner self with what you can share with others later. So we are truly interested in communication with people wherever they are from. That's why we use couchsurfing and that's why we also travel a lot by hitchhiking ☀️

AS COUCHSURFERS

Because hitchiking is our preferred way of travel, sometimes it’s possible that we may ask you for a host on the same day and even in the evening. Sorry for that! It happens because of our spontaneous way of traveling when we don’t know where we will be at the end of the day. From time to time when we find ourselves in the late evening in some big and expensive city we need an accommodation more than ever. In many cases we don’t even need a household but only a safe place to set up a tent which we usually take with us 🏕

AS COUCHHOSTS

We have a special solidarity for all people who have a problematic situation and need an urgent host, especially hitchhikers like us, so we'll do our best to help you in that case. But if you make a request in advance, please make sure that you are looking not only for a place to spend a night but because of sincere interest towards us. We cannot just provide our space to people who are looking for what is called in russian "halyava" — something that is given to someone for free without any effort. Because we don't live in a castle with 14 rooms and lots of free space, we always have to communicate with the person living in shared room so we want them to be interested in communication from their side. We believe that couchsurfing is firstly about interest to different people and making new connections during your travels, not only about free places to stay. Also note that normal demand for us is 2 nights, 3 maximum. Exceptions are always possible, of course, but usually after we meet in person we could discuss it, otherwise you must explain why you ask for more nights to stay, so consider this in your requests. Because of all those reasons, we'd like to ask you to start your message request with words "Viva Lisezh" or "Да здравствует Лисёж" in russian. We'll see that you read our profile, liked it and ready to respect our rules 😊

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We love the idea of getting to know different people and make a cultural exchange. As was mentioned, we are big fans of hitchhiking which is the best way of travelling for our goals, so the Couchsurfing has the same vibe 🎊

But the main question is: why you should book an expensive hotel to be alone the whole stay, meanwhile there are people out there looking for friends and experiences and with empty beds?

📚 Kirill likes series of Yuval Noah Harari, Masha's fav authors are Ivan Efremov, Aleksandr Bogdanov, Rabindranat Tagor, Herman Hesse, Tomas Mann and many many others (she's a philologist!)

📽️ Masha's favourite movie directors are: Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Alain Resnais, Ingmar Bergman, Woody Allen, Mark Zakharov, Eldar Ryazanov and many others... Also the movies from other directors to be paid attention to: Nomadland, A Hidden Life, Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion... List can be continued infinitely.
Kirill respects such movies like: Hacksaw Ridge, The Shawshank Redemption, Fight Club, Logan, The Butterfly Effect, Forrest Gump, Koko-di Koko-da.

Teach, Learn, Share

🏂 As snowboarders we can tell you everything from our wide experience about this sport. We can consult you about equipment or technics of riding or whatever. Even can provide a free snowboarding class if it's possible :)

🥣 We can teach you how to cook some local dishes and not only Russian ones!

📚 Masha is a big fun of literature and a great philology bachelor. She can talk about books indefinitely and teach Russian language a bit!

📽️ Also a big Masha's interest is cinematography. She would love to discuss it with other interested people especially if they are professionally connected to this field.

💬 Well, we generally love to talk about many topics: cultures, traditions, travel experience, geography, philosophy, humanitarian sciences, IT-sphere etc... There is always an interesting in everything.

We find any fulfilling people's interaction the main currency of this world 💙
