About Me

Hi, I’m Marijan 👋

I’m originally from Croatia, now living in Berlin, and I love connecting with people, exploring new cultures, and sharing good conversations. I’m 30, tall (1.96m – so yes, I’ll probably need the longest couch 😅), and passionate about building new ideas, whether that’s in venture building, startups, or my own projects.

Travel is a big part of my life. I’ve spent time across Europe, South America, and Asia, from wandering the streets of Palermo and Naples to experiencing the culture in Japan and Bali as well as the colourful carnival in Rio in Brazil. I love history, nature, and adventure, and I’m always up for a free walking tour, a cozy café, or a deep late-night conversation about life.

Outside of work, I keep active with training at the gym, and I also like experimenting with cooking classes and local food when I travel.

I’m currently developing apps—one of them helps people spend less time on social media and more time focusing on spiritual habits. I’m curious by nature, and I enjoy learning new skills.

What I Can Share
• A curious mind and good company.
• Stories from working in venture building and traveling around.
• A genuine interest in learning about your culture, city, and way of life.

Philosophy
I believe life’s best experiences come from the people you meet along the way. Sharing meals, stories, and perspectives is what makes travel truly meaningful.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For me, travel is less about ticking sights off a list and more about the people I meet along the way. Couchsurfing feels like the best way to experience a city through the eyes of locals, share meaningful conversations, and make genuine connections that go beyond the usual tourist path.

I enjoy the exchange—whether it’s trading travel stories, cooking together, or simply hanging out over a coffee or beer. I believe hospitality creates friendships that last long after the trip is over.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
I have pretty eclectic taste — from chilled acoustic and indie sounds to electronic beats that keep the energy up. Depending on the mood, I’ll just as happily listen to old classics as discover new local artists when I travel.

Movies:
I love movies that make me think and spark conversations — whether that’s a good documentary, a clever drama, or an adventure film. I also enjoy the occasional comedy night with something light and fun.

Books:
Mostly non-fiction — I’m drawn to books about history, psychology, and business/venture building, but I also enjoy travel writing and the occasional novel that pulls me into another world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I designed and built my own iOS app from scratch. It started as just an idea, and seeing it come to life and actually work on a phone was an amazing feeling — kind of like turning imagination into reality.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach:
I can share what I know about venture building, startups, and creating digital products — as well as some basics of coding and app design.

Learn:
I’m curious about everything — from languages and local traditions to new recipes and different ways of looking at life. I’d love to learn more about cooking, culture, and personal philosophies from the people I meet.

Share:
Good company, meaningful conversations, and stories from my travels. I also enjoy sharing meals together — whether it’s trying local food or cooking something simple side by side.
