ABOUT ME
I'm travelling with my boyfriend Pieter for a year around the world. We're both teachers and took a year off to explore new places. We like meeting new people and getting to know a city with locals. Of course we also want to see the highlights, but the get to know a country for us it's all about people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I heard great things about CS from my brother and his wife, who came back from a 6-month trip through Southeast Asia with lots of great experiences. When I worked as an intern teacher in India, I had the opportunity to be hosted several times in different cities (Mumbai, Khajuraho, ...). Every time it was a memorabe experience so I hope many more will follow (all over the world).
Interests
Like everybody on CouchSurfing, I love traveling because it gives you the opportunity to meet new people and share experiences. Besides traveling I like all kinds of sports: indoor and outdoor. I play basketball, jogg, swim and recently I started doing yoga (since I live in India now and wanted to pick up something local). I enjoy the wide range of cultural activities like going to the theatre, cinema, concerts, museums, ... When I want to relax, I read a good book (I prefer historical novels as I'm a historian and have to feed my longing for useless knowledge). Music is very important to me although I don't play an instrument myself. But I listen to music all the time, I like everything ranging from old school hiphop/soul/ R&B to modern dance/house/reggae/dance hall vibes.
My boyfriend Pieter likes to cook and always wants to discover new dishes. So he would be happy to help in the kitchen! He plays football and likes all kinds of sports. He likes to challenge himself, he ran two marathons for example.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'm easily amazed so I could write about the craziest busdrive I ever had very recently: I'm still adjusting to the Indian public transport so I was surprised at the quantity of people that could fit a bus. I had a great talk with two older women who didn't speak English (just Telugu), but body language goes a long way.
