My name is Marilyn Sofía and I am a mexican who's passionate about education, arts and travelling!

I am currently and exchange student at the National Pedagogical University of Colombia, studying the B.A. in Communitarian Education and Human Rights. In Bogotá I've been helping at an ONG called "Memoria y Saber Popular". As well, I have been teaching languages to youth population at a school located in the outskirts of the city.

Two years back I used to live in Kunming, China, teaching both English and Spanish at Yunnan Foreign Language School. After quite time in China, I started a solo-backpacking adventure throughout South East, volunteering and leaving the heart on the road: started in Vietnam helping at an ONG called "Vietnamese Centre for Development" teaching adults and preschool students and later on, went to Thailand to teach Theatre and Languages to girls from a muslim community at "Thong Tos Foundation".

Back in my hometown, I have been active doing communitarian theatre since I was 13 years-old. We take arts to different areas of the city! As well, I have participated in different activities that aim to take poetry to the streets.

Passionate reader and indian food lover. Can't sit when salsa starts playing at the bar. Passionate learner and coffee lover.

Mi nombre es Marilyn Sofía, soy una mexicana apasionada por la educación, las artes y mochilear!

Actualmente soy estudiante de intercambio en la Universidad Pedagógica Nacional de Colombia, cursando la Licenciatura en Educación Comunitaria y Derechos Humanos. Durante mis meses en Bogotá, he colaborado en una organización de educación popular llamada "Memoria y Saber Popular". Así mismo, he aprendido junto a infancias y juventudes de las afueras de la ciudad enseñando idiomas en una escuela.

Hace dos años ocurrió una de las experiencias más hermosas: estuve viviendo en China, trabajando como maestra de idiomas en Yunnan Foreign Language School. Después de mi estancia decidí meter el corazón en la mochila y partir sola a mochilear por el Sudeste Asiático. Inicié en Vietnam, donde colaboré enseñando a población adulta y de preescolar en una organización llamada "Vietnamese Centre for Development" y posteriormente llegué a Tailandia donde enseñé Teatro e Idiomas a un grupo de niñas pertenecientes a una comunidad musulmana. Fueron tiempos de muchísimo aprendizaje y amor.

Originaria de Culiacán, en mi ciudad he estado activa haciendo teatro comunitario desde los 13 años. Apasionada del arte he colaborado en colectivos llevando teatro y poesía a diferentes rincones de la ciudad.

Lectora entregada y amante de la comida de la india. No puedo quedarme quieta cuando suena salsa en el bar o en cualquier lugar. Me encanta aprender y tomar café.

After my experiences in Colombia, I am willing to discover more and more about beautiful Latin América so I will be backpacking during the summer. I believe that the best and most beautiful way of discovering what makes us brothers and sisters, is to share stories and become friends with people from different places. I am willing to share what I know and open my heart to new friends and stories.

Después de mis experiencias en Colombia, me quedo con ganas de descubrir más y más de la hermosa América Latina, razón por la cual estaré mochileando durante el verano. Creo que la mejor y más linda manera de descubrirnos como hermanos, hermanas, es compartir historias y hacer amigos de diferentes lugares. Voy con toda la actitud de aprender, compartir lo mucho o poco que sé y abrir mi corazón a nuevos amigos e historias.
