ABOUT ME

I was born in Leipzig - so I lived nearly for 26 years in a prison called "German Democratic Republic" (East Germany). That means it was impossible to travel to the West and there were a lot of problems for me to visit the East. In this time I was, nevertheless, in almost all the East European countries. In my opinion the freedom to travel wherever people want is very important for their personality and the understanding of other cultures. Therefore I took part in the great demonstrations against the supremacy of the communist party in Leipzig (autumn 1989). After the break-down of the wall I started to visit the West European countries.
I got the greatest impressions of my life with SERVAS (also a kind of hospitality network) travelling to USA, Canada, Austria, France, South Africa and New Zealand; hosting 48 guests from 16 countries, because only this kind of travel allows me to experience the world first hand. I am very interested in the interchange of opinions and views about politics, living conditions, ways of life ...
