About Me

Hi guys!
I'm currently living in a town named Neufchâteau, it's 1 hour from Nancy (by bus, by train or by car), and you're welcome to my house if you want to stay here and visit the area !

Now here's a short (well no, it's actually quite long, you obviously don't have to read everything haha) description of what I like to do and everything : (again, you don't have to read all of it haha)

***How I like to travel***

I believe the best way to have a view on a culture is to meet local people, see how they live, share our experience. I'm not very fond of hostels because I don't care about having a good bed or not while travelling. To me, travel is made to meet people that think differently, to share our experience, to see the world differently and get out of my comfort zone.

I also believe that the best way to explore a country is to do it with other travelers, in order to share what we discover and enjoy together. I like travelling with people from all over the world, that I've never met before, so that we just explore the country together and meet at the same time.

I think there are few people we can't get along with. There is always a way to share something with anybody in the world, even if at first it seems you have nothing in common.

I really like exploring local villages, natural landscapes, hiking, finding hidden beautiful places. I like travelling without knowing where I'll sleep next day and which places I'll visit.

***What I like to do***

I'm really interested in ecology. I'm a vegetarian (trying to become vegan), I'm trying to have a "zero waste" lifestyle, to watch carefully the environmental and social conditions of the production of everything I buy, and I like going to events on the topic, like lectures for instance, in order to learn more about it.

I also like artistic activities, I'm a graphist in an association, and I'm trying to learn woodcarving. I've also been a woodworker assistant and I really liked it. I think wood is a way to be in contact with a natural material while doing art, which is the perfect combo.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think CS is the best app that has ever existed. It's a revolution. It allows people to connect, to travel together, while otherwise they would probably never have been in touch. It allows to travel with people you've never met before, that are not from your country, and to share something.

The possibility to host and be hosted for free is to me a revolution as it allows us to get out of a system where everyting is monetized. Most of our exchanges today are money exchanges, and I think it's wonderful that we finally be able to offer something or be offered something without any money interest. We're going back to true exchanges between humans. It's very pure and I love this philosophy.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really like watching documentaries, because I think it's a good way to learn new stuff, and to remember them as there are images and sound going with it. I think it's also a good way to get opened to new topics, new subjects, that you had never heard about before. I think it's really important to stay curious about everything.

I'm not reading a lot these times but I like reading books that teach me new things. These times, I've been mostly reading books about ecology, neurosciences, sociology.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Actually, I think that very small things and ordinary activities can be extraordinary. To me, seing an old friend I've not seen for a while is extraordinary, mixing two ingredients by chance and discovering this mix is delicious is extraordinary, enjoying a cup of tea under your blanket on a rainy winter night is extraordinary, learning new stuff (about people, about a subject, or learning a skill) is extraordinary.

Of course there are things I've experienced that were particularly special and that I'll remember for a long time, but I think it'll be better if I tell you about it when we meet, as this kind of things need to be shared with the voice and not the keyboard !

What I Can Share with Hosts

Since I no longer have my own flat, I unfortunately cannot host people anymore, but I'd love to have a walk with you in Paris, show you some places (I'm not the best turist guide ever since I have no sense of orientation and have to look for my way on Google maps eventhough it's my own city haha but I can try), tell you about French culture if you'd like, and give you any information you need !
