I think Couchsurfing is especially perfect for short trips because you have the opportunity to get to know the people and the country very fast. Also I think it’s a good chance to become better acquainted with the people.
I did a lot of Couchsurfing in Morocco, Iran, Sweden and Norway and it had changed completely the way I am travelling now. I met some great people and I don't want to travel without Couchsurfing anymore..
