About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Expand my horizons...

ABOUT ME

I am a friendly, talkative person who generally has good relationships with everyone and likes to learn new things. I am not shy but prefer spending time with small groups rather than in big parties. I generally take on too much and keep myself overly busy but I like the pressure. I am liberal and fairly intellectual, but I also like silly fun.

Interests

I enjoy simple things like cooking and eating together, watching kids play in the park, reading a good book, going on aimless walks, and learning from other people. I love intellectual discussions and playing childish games. Like everyone (or mostly everyone) I have a serious weakness when it comes to YouTube videos. I enjoy both the bustle of cities and the peace and beauty of the natural world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am amazed by trees, especially the California redwoods. When I look up and can't see the top and think about how much older the trees are than anything around them, I find the power of life truly awesome.

Once I was rescued from a river in the Amazon rainforest by naked Amerindians. While staying at a jungle lodge two of us went out in a traditional dugout canoe which we were unable to control in the strong current of the river. We ended up in the water, clinging to the canoe and trying to decide at what point we should ditch the canoe and try to walk back, taking into consideration that I had only one flip-flop and there wasn't a path. Luckily we rounded a bend in the river and came across a village where a couple of men were taking their evening bath. They pulled our canoe to shore, got us in it, and this one man rowed us back up the river to our lodge, against a current so strong we couldn't even manage to get the canoe to shore. It is incredible what feats humans (not me obviously) are capable of.

Countries I’ve Lived In
