About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live my life as freely and peacefully and with as much joy as possible! To open my heart to the entire world and to connect with as many lovely human beings as possible while on the journey. I'm trying to get by while avoiding a steady job and finding work along the way. I'm currently making a long-time dream come true of doing a solo backpacking trip around New Zealand!

ABOUT ME

I love traveling, exploration and adventure. I love meeting people, talking with them and learning their stories. I love freedom and the sweetness of unscheduled time. I love to sing and dance and go for long car rides just to drive, the windows down and the music up. I'm a star-gazer, a rain-dancer, a nighttime swimmer, a rainbow-hunter, a storm-chaser!

PHILOSOPHY

Live in the present moment. Be patient, kind and open. Laugh and play as much as you can!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Our homes are our refuges and I truly respect anyone who opens up their home to someone they don't know. It is an immense act of faith, one that I think we should all be engaging in as it fosters good faith and trust in our fellow human. I love to make new friends and to see different places from a "local's" perspective and to experience life as it is lived by other people like me. I don't like staying in touristy hotels, cut off from the world. I love entertaining guests and making people feel at home when they are far away from their own homes.

Interests

I like to spend my time with other open-minded and relaxed people. I love to be outdoors. I feel the most at home in the quiet of the woods and I love to hike. I'm inspired by the mountains. I'm in love with the warmth of the sun and the smell of the salt on the beach. I love road trips and camping and exploring new places. I love photography and dream of being a travel journalist some day when I can afford a decent camera! I have a daily yoga practice. I've attended many vipassana meditation retreats and love discussing spiritual exploration. I find most things to be hilarious and love to laugh and have fun. I am a foodie and I love to be in the kitchen and especially to cook for others.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am really into music, I am either listening to it and/or singing all day! I love any kind of live music, especially when I can dance to it. My favorites are the Grateful Dead, the Beatles, the Doors, Pink Floyd, the Allman Brothers, Kid Cudi, Joni Mitchell, Fleet Foxes, Led Zeppelin, Guster, Billy Joel, Amanda Palmer and Krishna Das.

I really enjoy hanging out and watching movies. My favorites are the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Star Wars, Batman, Indiana Jones, Big Lebowski, Fear & Loathing, the Labyrinth, the Shining, Hayao Miyazaki films, Amelie, Monty Python, old Disney movies and Dr. Who.

I love to read, especially out loud with others and I always do the voices. I love fantasy; Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, the Golden Compass, horror; Stephen King, Anne Rice, trashy vampire novels (excluding Twilight) and poetry, especially Mary Oliver.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I bought a tiny piece of land on the island of Lombok, Indonesia and opened a small, local restaurant where we served rice and noodles in a hut made out of thatched palm leaves.

While on a silent meditation retreat in Chiang Mai, Thailand, I was part of an all-night candlelit procession with the monks, walking around a stupa hundreds of times in celebration of Buddha's birthday.

I did a spontaneous 3-month solo road trip across the US.

I rode a camel across part of the desert in Israel and stayed in a Bedouin tent.

Went sky diving.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you many things, I am patient and people tell me I'm a good teacher.

I want to learn as much as I can while I'm here to learn! The possibilities are endless and I try to learn something from every experience and every person I meet.

Share as much as you can; hugs, stories, rides, meals, experiences, cookies- share life! We are in this together so why not share?

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer good company, good energy and good times. I love to help others heal and am always looking to practice reiki (energy healing) on anyone who wants some healing love! I love to cook and bake, especially for others! I don't mind doing dishes and I always clean up after myself and try to leave any space more beautiful than I found it.
