About Me

Hello! Hola! 👋🏽! Hejhej! Bonjour!

My name is Mark, and I am a recently graduated in April from Flagler College, located in the beautiful and historic seaside town of Saint Augustine, Florida. I majored in Political Science and Business Administration with a focus in Economics and International Political Economy.

Currently, I am spending time traveling throughout Europe, while also visiting my Uncle in Uppsala, Sweden. Unfortunately, due to my currently transient accommodations, I am unable to host any guests!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have a insatiable appetite for traveling, learning about new cultures, experiencing new places, trying new cuisine, and searching for a deeper sense of beauty and meaning during this short time we've been given on earth.

I decided to connect to Couchsurfer so that I might meet new people while I am abroad, as well as once I am back home. I truly believe that the Sharing Economy is a means of humanizing those who are different, and finding deeper, more rich connections with people across the globe.

I hope that through Couchsurfer I might find people who are interested in teaching me about the place that they call home, the food that they eat, and the world that they see through their eyes. In return I would like to offer my perspective, my culture, and my experiences as a means of exchange.

Interests

Coffee--Decadent medium and blonde roasts are my guilty indulgence

Wine & Spirits--Bright, robust, and fruity reds (Stella Rosa Black, Jam Jar Shiraz)

Cheese--D'Affinois and Brie, but also just about any cheese!

Travel--How could we choose one favorite place?

Culture--Latin (PR) by birth, raised in the South of the US

Economics & Politics--Theory (Aristotelian, Hobbesian, Locke), Current Affairs

Classical Literature--The Lost Generation (Fitzgerald, Hemingway, Steinbeck)

Music, Movies, and Books

Eclectic beats and sultry blues will always have my heart, but I also love discovering new sub-genres and musicians who don't quite 'fit the mold.'

The Great Gatsby is one of my favorite books and movies. Ask me why? :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In April of 2016 I made the choice, upon graduating college, to quit my job, pack my apartment into storage, and spend an extended period of time traveling and freelancing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I feel quite comfortable sharing both my Hispanic and American background with those who are interested. In particular, I come from the Southern region of the United States, which has a unique history and culture in and of itself.

I am also willing to help teach English and Spanish to those who are interested in learning, particularly in exchange for learning the language of a fellow Couchsurfer!

What I Can Share with Hosts

As a new Couchsurfer I am continually astounded by the generosity that people have in their hearts which compels them to open their homes to strangers and allow those people to share and learn about their lives. It is an ideology that I have a bastion of respect and appreciation for, and one that I certainly will not take for granted!
