To earn and learn for a few months before heading off in search of adventure, incredible sights and like minded people.

ABOUT ME

I was a devoted husband to a wonderful lady who passed away August 21st 2013. Life has changed. We travelled after Amanda's diagnosis, and then 6 months after she passed away I picked up where we left off and headed back to India. I travelled India on this second visit for 3 months, then headed to Nepal then across to Alaska where I hitched, cycled and trekked for 3 months. I'm now zipping between the Isle of Man and England on photography and writing commissions. I also teach yoga four times each week.
I'm currently learning the guitar and Spanish (in preparation for my next adventure).

PHILOSOPHY

I've always loved my life, where ever I've been. I always try to be content with the cards life has dealt me (and I've been lucky too!). When the chips are down, I like to remind myself how fortunate I am compared to many other people in the world. The simple opportunity to Couch Surf itself is a gift. If we put out kindness, consideration and generosity this is what we will receive, this is turn will bring us happiness.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new to this, but as soon as we settle somewhere, there will be a couch for anyone who needs it.
I've stayed with kind folks whilst travelling through Alaska.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Through Alaska and Canada and hosted two lovely Australian lads that I met travelling in Laos during 2012.

Been in Caracas for 4 weeks CouchSurfing with a family who have now become great friends.

Interests

I adore the outdoors. I love snowboarding and mountain biking, surfing, fishing, playing soccer, badminton, squash and volleyball.
I love all types of photography, and write and photograph for a number of specialist magazines (fishing and travel). I love art and theatre. I have become a daily meditator after participating in two 10 day silent meditation retreats whilst in Thailand and in India with my wife, back in 2012.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Completed the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal in 10 days so I could be at the highest mountain pass in the world on my late wife's birthday this year.
I was told I probably couldn't reach the pass in 5 days due to the distance, terrain and potential of altitude sickness.
I was overjoyed to complete my own personal challenge and be sat on Throng La Pass on April 7th 2014.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm too inexperienced, as a traveller or couch surfer to offer any nuggets of wondrous advice just yet.

Be kind and trust in the hearts of the people you meet.
Simultaneously be aware, wise and refrain from naivety.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am willing to help out around the house where I can. I love cooking. I have baby sat for hosts and have spring cleaned an entire guesthouse. I have painted gates and walls.... I can turn my hand to anything. I can also offer smiles and lots of laughter.
