About Me

CURRENT MISSION

not to spend even a nano second thinking about work/money/career etc

ABOUT ME

I love the outdoors and travel a lot either in Ireland or abroad. I've been living in Dublin for over 20 years and I like to get out into the countryside as much as I can on my time off. I've been on a career break for the last 20 months and I think I've managed to destress significantly. Loved travelling and also spending time at home in a non-frenzied state! When I get back to Dublin eventually I would love to host people as I've really enjoyed being a guest.

PHILOSOPHY

my philosophy is always in flux...right now i'm doing things that make ME happy. I killed myself for too long in the service of my students!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Mixed experience but on the positive side of average…I stayed with 3 different hosts each for 3 nights while I was on a 2 month cycling trip last year. One host didn't really interact much but the others made an effort to communicate and I really enjoyed my time with them.

Interests

travelling, drinking/chatting with friends/new people, hiking, cycling, kayaking, music, cooking, reading...

Music, Movies, and Books

julie fowlis is an amazing singer from the Outer Hebrides that I like. She sings in Scots Gallic but it doesn't matter! Another singer that I've been listening to a lot these days is Eilen Jewel. Anything that comes out of Mali is worth listening to too.
I also love american country, blues, funk, rock, electronic, folk, traditional...
I read the Short Life of Oscar Wao recently...really liked it. i finally got around to reading wuthering Heights last month...loved every page! If only i made time to read more…since writing this I have read loads more…I'm on a 5 month trip at the moment and have read at least 15 books! Mainly thrillers but also biography and
The last movie I really liked was Sling Blade. Another was Il Postino. Saw The Dallas Buyers Club recently and enjoyed it a lot. Love old movies from the 30's to the 50's.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spent 4 days in the jungle in Ecuador recently...went with a really nice, diverse group and we had a really great guide whose enthusiasm was infectious...saw loads of animals and heard some great stories.

Teach, Learn, Share

It's hard to come up with something on the spot...these kinds of things trickle into conversations.

What I Can Share with Hosts
