About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See the world, meet wonderful people, learn.

ABOUT ME

I grew up in Alaska and California, then joined the Army and spent four years in communications and air defense artillery. I spent a year of it in South Korea, which I loved.

I went to Holland in 2010. In early 2011 I went to India (one month in Goa). After India I spent a year and a half in the Philippines, and now I am in Viet Nam, where I teach English

PHILOSOPHY

I just try to balance doing what I want to do, with doing the things others expect of me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted two people so far, in California and Holland, and surfed with one in Vancouver, BC.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had a wonderful time in Vancouver, BC with Maya, and Dave was awesome. It's all been positive so far!

Interests

I love foreign languages, music, math, chess and physics. I taught yoga briefly, and loved it. I like jujitsu and grappling, and would love to study judo. I like to cook, and occasionally have a few beers.

Music, Movies, and Books

Tombstone and Shawshank Redemption are my two favorite movies, but I'm a big fan of movies in general. As for music, I enjoy many genres but generally stay away from brainless pop music. I used to be a voracious reader, but traveling has made finding good books in English rather difficult over the last few years. Therefore, I listen to a lot of audio books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Aside from some very intense moments in the Army, such as hanging out of the top of a tank while the main gun fires, the most amazing thing I've ever experienced has been Burning Man. The sense of community and instant connection I felt to the people around me was overwhelming.

Countries I’ve Visited

India, Netherlands, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In

Philippines, South Korea, United States, Viet Nam
