About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Meeting different folks with different strokes.

ABOUT ME

My name is Mark, and right now I am traveling with two guys named Allen Barker and Hugh Mason who are walking 1400 miles from Lake Worth FL to Lawrence KS. They own a non-profit organization called Lighting the Dark, which focuses on water issues in developing countries. The average child and woman in a developing country walks around 4 miles a day to get access to clean drinking water, which ends up being 1400 miles a year. So they though, what better way to tell people than to show them. Along the way they are trying to raise money to build 33 water wells in Haiti. These guys are very passionate, and I am real glad to have met them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We would love if you could let us crash with you for a night if we are coming through your town. 100% of the donations they receive go to building the wells in Haiti, so we look for places to donate us meals and places to stay.

Interests

I enjoy being outside, backpacking, kayaking, hiking, playing soccer, rugby. I love a good book, with some good guitar picking in the background. Enjoy good conversation with people who like to think differently.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I traveled out west this summer, hitchhiking around. Started in Yellowstone National Park, went through Wyoming to Colorado, spent a few weeks in the mountains, then heading to Utah to wander around the dessert, the ended up on the Pacific Coast in California. Best experience of my life so far.
