Overview
About Me
Hi, I'm Marko and I come from a small country of Serbia.
I love my home and although the city of Belgrade, where I lived for the past couple of years, is great and offers so much, I still want to explore the world and meet people from all walks of life.
My friends (and I mostly agree) would describe me as an adventurous person that loves to see, touch, go, everywhere without a specific plan in mind, and I look at it as a positive trait and I would like to quote a movie dear to me (Forrest Gump) with a saying "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get" and I feel that it holds true in many ways. Yes its good to have a plan and try to stick to some agenda, but things will happen, good and bad, and thats just life and I want to handle it when it happens and not to be afraid without ever trying. Ehh, Im optimistic, maybe a bit too much sometimes, but I love it.
I work in IT with a company that allows me to work remotely so when I can I try to explore the world, meet all kinds of people and exchange stories while exploring the place we are at.
* I believe that Couchsurfing is a great place because people actively try to contribute to it, so I feel that effort needs to be shown by at least filling out your profile before reaching out to others. Not trying to be rude, but an empty profile saying "Hi" is not something I will entertain.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I came here to meet like-minded travelers, and for the past 3 years I did a few solo trips and couchsurfing was an amazing tool to connect with locals and other passer-bys.
Before that my traveling experiences mostly included hotel/family member having us over, but after my first solo trip in 2022 I knew this was the way to go, and having such a positive first experience with Couchsurfing definitely hooked me to do it over and over again and during the years I met some truly great people, shared the good and the bad and made some great connections.
Interests
My interests are divided into 3 sections. First would be my professional interests like programming, which I love and have been doing for a few years now. Then the interests that help me improve like sports (the more extreme the better xD), exploring nature, meeting people and the interests that are just for enjoyment like music, festivals, parties, dancing, traveling and learning about different things
- festivals
- dancing
- running
- partying
- technology
- traveling
- music
- classical music
- hiking
- sports
- rock climbing
- swimming
- extreme sports
- nature
- techno
- programming
- pop music
- rave
Music, Movies, and Books
While I'm a really bad singer I do enjoy listening to almost anything, aside from heavy metal type of music :( So everything from pop to classical is always welcomed :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
From sky to scuba diving with some rock climbing in between. Also did some solo travels (not that much yet) that I've enjoyed and feel proud of.
Also completed a Camino de Santiago from Porto with a bike in just 4 days without planning it.
Teach, Learn, Share
Would love to learn as much as I can about different people and places I visit and also talk about my culture so that we can both have a great time hanging out.
Also, since rock climbing is one of my big passions, I would be more than happy to go and do some of it and have fun even if you've never tried it before.
Regarding some life lessons, I would love to share some of my stories and would love to hear yours as well so that we can both get something valuable from having a new pair of ears hear it and get a different point of view.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Serbia is famous for it's cuisine, and although I'm not a good cook, we can always try and fix something up and enjoy our company over some (hopefully delicious) food.
Also, if you are into any kind of sports or enjoy spending time outside I'll be more than happy to accompany you for a walk, hike or just hanging out.
