About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To fly high in the friendly skies
ABOUT ME
An intelligent, slightly offbeat young man with gorgeous eyelashes and a weird sense of humor. I love being politically incorrect and making fun of everything and everyone. This doesn't mean I hate everything and everyone, but the exact opposite. It's not that I'm tolerant of other cultures, because that means putting up with something you don't like. I love getting to know other people and completely different cultures, so there's that.
Apart from traveling I spend my time writing as a freelance journalist, studying law and playing lots of guitar. As a side job I paint boats on a wharf, to be in the fresh air and do something with my hands. To unwind, I party.
PHILOSOPHY
Be kind. Be interested. Be open. Love your friends. See if those you meet can become friends, and when they do, love them as friends. To love, learn and relate to others is to experience a fleeting moment of happiness. Create the circumstances for those moments to show themselves as often as possible.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've surfed a couch in Ljubljana so far and I've got loads of lovely couchsurfers lined up for visits. I'm pretty excited about it!
Interests
I have a passion for literature, art, good food and pretty places, like most people on CS. When I travel, what interests me most are the stories, struggles and events that have shaped the place I am visiting. When I'm not traveling, I enjoy reading about the human body, about health and history and learning new ridiculous skills such as taking off a t-shirt in two seconds.
Music, Movies, and Books
Books: Everything is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer, everything by Louis de Bernieres, Ivo Andric, Doris Lessing.
Music: Techno, jazz, tech-house, house, deep house, drum 'n' bass, old dubstep, nu jazz, jazz, soul, folk, electro-inspired rock and harder varieties of rock up to old punk. Did I say jazz?
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I brought a kitten home from Serbia who obviously didn't have anybody taking care of her. She gives back to me by being the cutest pet alive.
Teach, Learn, Share
I would love to learn about photography and I'd love to learn to speak better German and French, through practicing with natives. In return I can teach my secret cooking style, which I call 'Freestyling'. Cooks who channel the freestyle in their kitchens have the amazing power of creating tasty dishes from shit ingredients. I'm also pretty good at guitar and I can teach you some songs.
As for the sharing part, I'd love to have a part of my house dedicated to the sharing and loving spirit of Couchsurfing. If you have something from your country which is special and specific, I'd love to trade it for some Dutch specialties or 'specialties'.
