About Me

CURRENT MISSION

More happy working people on this planet.

ABOUT ME

I'm an open minded 30 year old, live in Berlin with my girlfriend who I met traveling, I do Paleo, I run a business called intrinsify!me that is all about making people happy at work and love going places and meeting people. I'm sporty, I like to party, I read loads but only boring non-fictional stuff. My German roots are strong but I'm half English so you get the tidy German with the British friendliness I'd like to believe. British humor didn't rub off I'm afraid.

PHILOSOPHY

Keep your commitments to a minimum, especially material ones, go beyond your comfort zone again and again rather than to lull yourself in by mediocrity, explore, fail, ask and enjoy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I’m only just getting this started I’m afraid. But I can’t wait to become part of the community.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My CS experience is close to none. One of my friends had a guest the other week and I fell in love with the idea (again – I had known of the concept before and heard many great stories)

Interests

My life revolves around three major interests at the moment: The new world of work, Paleo and travelling.

The new world of work: I run a business that wants to fundamentally reinvent work, leadership and organisational structures. In fact, the model we promote is not that new. Some rare pioneering companies around the world (Semco, W.L. Gore, Southwest Airlines,…) have been practicing a democratic, networked, self-organising approach to work for many years and they all share an outstanding track record. We want to help bring this modern understanding into practice elsewhere and overcome our mechanistic view of the world. We aren’t cogwheels, we are individuals with unique features.

Paleo: I love the idea of the Paleo lifestyle. Paleo refers to the paleolithic era and the idea is dead simple: We have been around for about 2 million years and only very recently (~10.000 years ago) our lives have dramatically changed from the nomadic hunter-gatherer lifestyle to lazy grain eating settlers. Obviously the real pain only just kicked in some decades ago when our lifestyles went completely unnatural. Because evolution doesn’t catch up that fast, we are exposing our paleolithic genes to a modern mechanistic world. That’s bound to go wrong. So in terms of food, movement, sleep, sunlight, relationships etc. there is a lot to learn when we take a glimpse at how our ancestors might have lived their lives. That’s what I do.

Travelling: I just love it even though it has been suffering lately due to the business I was trying to set up. Places I’ve been to – see below.

Music, Movies, and Books

I’m unbelievably boring when it comes to this question. I don’t know anything about music though I love listening to a good piece.
My favourite movies could be Fight Club, 13 Days, Promised Land, Home, Pulb Fiction and some others but again I’m useless with this question.
I’m a nerd as all I read is non-fictional stuff about Paleo, complexity science, leadership, philosophy, systems thinking and other allegedly boring stuff.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Can I do two? I met my girlfriend travelling through Vietnam. That changed my life. The other one: I would say that was my jungle experience in Cambodia. Four days, nothing went as planned, flooding, emergency bamboo raft building, one man down, seriously the best adventure I could imagine.

Teach, Learn, Share

Quite a bit about how social systems, especially organisations, and motivation works and what we can and cannot change.
Paleo Lifestyle (nutrition, sport, sleep, etc.)
