About Me

„Travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living.“ – Miriam Beard

Hi, my name is Markus. Every January, I try to visit foreign countries. Sometimes with my friend holiday-buddy Axel (now, he was married), sometimes with a girl-friend. (now she was married too ;). I also enjoy travelling on my own. What else? I'm father of 2 enchanting girls (18/22), living in a tiny house and afflicted from a disease, called "wanderlust" (I wonder about google translate, because "wanderlust" is a german word)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

After getting 50 years old, I think it's early enough to try out an other form of traveling.

Music, Movies, and Books

Pulp Fiction, Lord of the Rings, High Noon, Gran Torino, Matrix and many more

Music? Crossover! For example Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Björk, Massive Attack, Linkin Park, Rage against the machine, Selah Sue... I also like Pop, House, Blues and some Jazz-Artists.

Books? Hmm, actually I 'm a proud owner of a libary card. But usually for reading the daily press. Aside from that I like to read books about people, who share their travel-experiences.
Books, I read more than 1 times: Robinson Crosoe, The count of Monte Christo, Siddharta, The 4-Hour Work Week (believe me, it doesen't work ;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Every journey has it's own magic moment.
For example the ascending clouds in front of the Mt. Everest, brushing around the nose.
Drinking a "Hangovertini" at the Rooftop-Terrace of the Lebura-State-Tower in the evening.
Playing cards with a nepalesian family on Lamajura peak.
Staying with friends at a campfire in the scandinavian nature after paddling during the rain.
