About Me

Just moved to Sarasota for a new job at NCF. Lover of mountains, food, good conversation, whiskey, and great people!

I'm an economist by day and a lover of cooking, reading, and conversations over drinks by night. Most of my working time is spent researching and teaching about inequality in the US and fighting for social and economic justice. We can do better!

Excited to explore the area with other locals and/or visitors.

PHILOSOPHY

"From each according to their ability, to each according to their needs"
-Marx, but edited "his" to "their"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have had a great time hosting and traveling all over the country via CS plus Ethiopia! This site has allowed me to meet many great people and share my home and region with world travelers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My old roommate used to have a profile and we hosted a few CouchSurfers during the year we lived together, which was always a blast. I have hosted a few surfers at my home, traveled across the country and stayed with many amazing people that I met through this site, and most recently spent time in Ethiopia via CS!

Music, Movies, and Books

Mars trilogy, In Defense of Food, Into Thin Air, The World According to Garp, Walden, A Theory of Justice, anything Cormac McCarthy or Barbra Kingsolver.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent two weeks in the most amazing village in south west Ethiopia (Kara).

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to cook, and I'm relatively decent at it! I enjoy cooking for/with people, as it's my way of showing I care. I find food to be a great way to express yourself artistically as well. Let's go to my CSA and cook something delicious and fresh. Oh, yes and fresh bread!

Love chatting about economics and politics with folks.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd love to cook a great meal while I'm visiting! And I'm a decent conversationalist to boot.
