I quit a great job in finance in London and bought a one way ticket to Asia. There, I became a scuba diving instructor in Thailand. However, I ran out of money because I was partying too much. So I then moved to Australia where I became a farmer (seriously). After making my fortunes planting crops, I moved to Malaysia where I started an internet company.
My business partner and I randomly decided to move to Europe. So we chose Hungary randomly on the map and just moved there. I ended up loving Budapest so much, that I never actually left. Having sold my first consultancy business, I then built an online media publishing business. We produce blogs and content sites about a range of interesting topics.
The first thing most people ask me is about my quirky accent. It is sort of half American half Scottish - quite a nice mix and very easy to understand if you are a non-native speaker! I guess this is indicative of me as a person. I've traveled heaps and see myself as a citizen of the world.
I still love to travel and have been to over 50 countries, including North Korea, Myanmar and Cuba. Planning an Iran/Iraq trip in the not too distant future too.
While I love to work hard, I also like to party hard. At weekends you can usually find me frequenting one of Budapest's infamous ruin pubs, or throwing down some serious shapes on the dance floor of a big club. I have a definite weakness for good IPA beers. If you love to party, I can show you the best night out ever in Budapest. WARNING: you might end up not wanting to leave!!!
As much as I like to party, I also enjoy really good food (both home cooked and fine dining). I can show you some truly fantastic restaurants in Budapest. Plus, I love awesome dinner chat. Whether it be geo-politics, the future of artificial intelligence, religion, travel or business, I have an opinion about most things and love having interesting discussions over dinner.
At the same time, I'm pretty down to earth and easy to get along with kinda guy. I can happily hang out and hold a conversation with just about anyone (even if your English isn't so great). Absolutely love meeting new people, especially from different countries. I love learning about foreign customs, cultures and trying their food.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I surf when I travel and can host. Currently living in Budapest, Hungary so get in touch if you'd like to stay, meet up for a drink or go out and party.
When I first moved to Budapest, I went to some Couchsurfing meetups in order to meet new people. This lead to making tons of great new friends in Budapest. I've even hired a couple of people through Couchsurfing to work for my company. Couchsurfing wrote a blog post about it a few years ago.
Partying, scuba diving, skiing, mountain biking, IPA beers, travel, good food and doing pretty much anything fun.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Most amazing thing was quitting my corporate job and buying a one way ticked to SE Asia without any kind of plan. Just sort of figured everything out as I got there.
