About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Learn more German so when in any non German speaking country I can say "no I can't speak your language, but I can speak German!".
ABOUT ME
I grew up in country South Australia, which meant lots of freedom, bike riding, swimming in dams and catching the school bus. I also grew up in Adelaide, living next to a train line (we used to put copper coins on the tracks to squish them), going to a hippy Catholic school where we went on lots of camps to the Coorong & spent most of the day at school making art and feeding our animals and working in our garden.
Once all grown up, I moved over to Sydney where I studied, met some amazing people, lived in Berlin for half a year and found my passionate outlet in photography. I am currently in a state of direction flux, but do know the future involves travel.
PHILOSOPHY
That everyone you meet is there to give or teach you something; and you should be open to that. Not in a mystical way, but a very practical way.
There is no charge for awesomeness.
Be Excellent To Each Other!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I provide badly drawn maps from memory of my local area, I want to be a part of a more authentic experience, I have endless enthusiasm for and interest in other people.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We had two German zookeepers couchsurf with us at my old house, and I realised it was pretty fun (even though German and Australian Humour misses each other at the best of times!).
My current house mate and I have also had a nomadic Scotsman stay who rid my iTunes of annoying duplicate songs among many other more awesome things.
Interests
Books about families, parties with concepts, dancing/singing in public, road trips, swimming in all bodies of water, learning what's inside of other people, personal life soundtracks, photography and contemporary visual art, the internets, memes (cultural genes!), meeting new people

Music, Movies, and Books
I love Radiohead, Cat Stevens, Leonard Cohen, Joy Division, Blur, the Yeah Yeah Yeah's, Bright Eyes, Sufjan Stevens, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and music with melody and amazing lyrics.
Movies I have enjoyed include In the Cut, Harold and Maude, American Beauty, In the Bedroom, Y Tu Mama Tambien, The Dark Knight, The Sweet Hereafter, The War Zone, Children of Men, The Squid and the Whale, Existenz.. I like movies about people and families, and also strange sci-fi films, and apocolyptic films were people have to turn to a savage past to survive ala Escape from Absolom / The Warriors / 28 Days Later.
I will list three books that have really affected me:
1. The Reader by Bernard Schlink
2. The Turning by Tim Winton
3. The Outsider (The Stranger) by Albert Camus
4. Everything is Illuminated by Jonothan Safran Foer.
Okay that is 4, and this is the longest profile ever...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Climbing up an abandonded hotel complex in Berlin built on a hill made from rubble dragged from the ruins post WWII, and filming the sunset over the city and a storm rolling in from the forests of Brandenburg.
