Overview
About Me
I'm a Finnish girl starting her history~language undergraduate studies at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. I'm very enthusiastic in seeing more of the world and generally using the years of my University studies to broaden my horizons and learn new languages.
NOTE: Though I live in Edinburgh, I am occasionally available to offer accommodation in Finland - ask me for details.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Even though I haven't traveled _that_ much, by this day I have grown tired of visiting new places restricted by the limitations of the 'tourist perspective'. Arriving, stranger among the locals - spending my time neatly inside the tourist bubble to eventually leave with little more knowledge of the culture and people of the place I just visited. Through Couchsurfing, I'm hoping to burst this bubble and get to know new people at the same time - and of course hoping to do the same favour to those who choose to visit my city!
Interests
I love culture in many forms - films, animations, novels (prosaic and graphic) and music - and am interested in discussing and swapping recommendations. I am also interested in history and sociological issues. Vegetarianism/veganism is very close to my heart.

Music, Movies, and Books
What comes to music, I like everything from jazz to techno, classical, pop and metal as long as there's 'something' in the artist to catch my attention. Haruki Murakami, Donna Tartt and Vladimir Nabokov are among my favourite authors and Park Chan Wook's and Wong Kar Wai's films are very inspiring. I am also a fan of anime and Mawaru Penguindrum is one of my favourite series.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've realized my dream of going abroad to live and have managed to make it meaningful and interesting despite adversities and my own personal doubts.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you Finnish and converse in elementary Swedish and Chinese (both of which I'm also eager to learn, as well as Japanese).
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am generally very amiable guest; interested in going to places and doing different things - discussing, watching movies, swapping languages. Alternatively I am happy to keep low profile and find my way around on my own, if that suits you better. I can also cook you vegetarian/vegan food or something Finnish.
