About Me

I really enjoy traveling. I was lucky enough to be able to study abroad in my last year of college (9 years ago!). I lived and went to school in Amsterdam for about 5 months. While in Europe, I met so many people (some of whom I still stay in contact) and I took advantage of the opportunities to travel to several countries: England, Ireland, France, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Croatia, and Czech Republic. Beyond visiting new places, I loved meeting new people, hearing different accents and languages, trying different foods, and really immersing myself into the cultures.
Since graduate school and now working full-time, I haven't had as much time to travel. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist and my husband, Ben, teaches psychology courses at a few local colleges. (We have been married almost 1 year, and together about 6 years). Because our vacations are dictated by college semesters, our traveling times are a bit limited; but we still try to travel as much as we can.
We enjoy taking road trips to different states and running marathons. So far, we have run marathons in 7 different states/US territories. Last year, for Memorial weekend, we took a road trip to South Dakota to visit Mt. Rushmore... and then decided to run a marathon (without recent training) in Wyoming because it was "on the way." We enjoy being outdoors and active. Our most recent adventure was our honeymoon in New Zealand (my husband is a HUGE Lord of the Rings/Hobbit fan – even our wedding cake was modeled after Minas Tirith).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Basically: travel on a budget, meet new people, explore new places, go on adventures!

A couple friends told us about couch-surfing… and we are eager to participate! Our hope is to take more opportunities for travel and meeting others, as both guest and host.

Music, Movies, and Books

The best way I can sum up my music interests: "emo kid" (2000s). Favorite bands include Coheed & Cambria, Thrice, Smashing Pumpkins

Ben's musical interests are a bit more eclectic.

Movies/books: I watched all the Lord of the Rings and Hobbits[es] with my husband... because he loves them.. and I guess I like them too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

finished 2nd (female) in trail marathon

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: local running places, beach football

Learn: (if I understand this correctly). -- learn about other people and their home, culture, and travels

Share: a couch, full bathroom, full kitchen. Netflix.

Close to theme parks: We are 20-30 minutes from the beach, Disneyland, and Knott's Berry Farm. About an hour from Six Flags Magic Mountain.
