Overview
About Me
I'm a Canadian currently living in Germany. I'm a chemical engineer but during my quarter life crisis, I also became a professional pastry chef. At the moment, I'm teaching english as a second language in Freiburg and am loving this job since I get to meet new people all the time and get a chance to interact with locals.
My husband and I love exploring and getting to know new people during our travels. We're relaxed and enjoy good food and good company.
My favourite countries that I've visited so far are Italy and Spain. They are gorgeous, I like the people there (for different reasons :) ) and of course you can't beat the food, wine and relaxation.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Until now we have normally stayed in Airbnbs when we traveled and have had some opportunities to get to know the hosts. BUT of course, this isn't the main goal when you stay in an Airbnb and sometimes we have found it to be a little impersonal. During the times that we have a had a chance to get to know our hosts, we have really enjoyed the experience.
I love the concept of couchsurfing and I'm hoping that it can be a chance for us to meet people from all over the world and make travelling and even more enjoyable experience all around.
We do currently share our flat with a roommate, so this will impact our availability to host. However, we are open to providing a pull-out couch to travellers in need for short stays.

Music, Movies, and Books
For music, I like a wide variety. Some favourites are Billy Joel, The Eagles, The Fratellis, The Beatles, Sia, The Beach Boys, David Bowie, The Backstreet Boys, Paul Simon... the illogical list goes on...
I love to take in a live show. I always find that I get a new appreciation for the music after seeing a live performance.
For books, I like to read non-fiction. I especially love Harry Potter, how can you not? I'm also a sucker for anything written by Jill Mansell.
For movies, I love 90s/2000s British Rom Coms: Love Actually, Notting Hill, About a boy, etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Sold our house and most of our possessions in Canada and moved to Germany!
Teach, Learn, Share
Being an English teacher, this is something I can definitely offer to help you with, if you want. I also promise not to correct you if you don't ask for it :)
My husband and I are also at an intermediate German level, and we'd welcome to chance to get in some German practice.
I also used to be fluent in french, so if you're a french speaker, I'm in desperate need of practice... when I try to speak french, most of the words that come out are german.
I'd also be happy to swap recipes with people. I love to cook and bake and I have some real gems that I love to share. I'd love to get some great news recipes to add to my repertoire.
I'm a big time craft addict. I love to create things with my hands. I have an Etsy shop where I sell some of my pieces, but I also love to sew, crochet and cross stitch. I'd love to take up some new crafts and can also give you some tips on the crafts that I already know how to make.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Good conversation and travel experiences. I'd also be happy to bring you some delicious baking. We'd also love to take our host(s) out for drinks or dinner as a huge thank you for hosting us.
