About Me

Hello! I am a biology student, retail assistant and avid hiker from Sydney, Australia. Currently travelling through North America; I am experiencing my dose of cultural differences, socialising with locals, and basking in solitude and independence.

After hearing how couch surfing shaped my friends trip to Europe (for the better), I was inspired to join myself. Hence, my new profile with edgy zeros to mark my newcomer status.

Apart from my new slate, I have been travelling by petsitting for locals, which was an incredible way to meet people I normally wouldn't have met. It gives me great joy to help those I stay with in anyway possible.

I always look forward to sharing stories, making new memories and bonding over differences and similarities.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My favourite thing about travelling is the people. I would love to visit locals and fellow travellers that I normally wouldn't get the chance to meet. I found petsitting to be a gem. It opened a new world of sharing and connecting with others I had never seen before. I aim to continue the cycle of happiness it started within me, aswell as experiencing the amazing opportunities couch surfing has brought to its community.

Interests

I have a penchant for adventure, learning new things and trying new things. I always support handmade and local crafts; wandering around farmers markets and talking to artists is something I can easily get lost in. To be sorrounded and sometimes lost in nature is my true love. I always believe happiness is real when shared, and I am always open to combining my interests with anyone around me.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a bit late to the party with this one, but I'm currently starting the Harry Potter series (books). Reading didn't grasp me until a few years ago, and because of that, I define my taste as "catching up". I do however, love to talk about characters, stories and ideas. My late bloom in books means most of my teens was spent searching for a movie I hadn't seen! I am super flexible with genres. Usually it scares people when I say "thrillers and horror", so I'm going to subtly add it in, incase I miss out on finding my overseas movie buddy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Not the whole 2600 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail, but a months worth of sections in Washington and Oregon.

Through hiking and camping on my own for the first time; in a country I had never been to, is one of the greatest leaps of faith I have ever taken. It wasn't because there was so many firsts, or because of how inexperienced I was. Instead, being alone for weeks and not seeing or talking to another person for days was something I didn't know I could do!

I learnt how to be my own bestfriend. I congratulated myself on small achievements (like putting up a tent or finding north on a compass (I did say inexperienced!)). I laughed at my own mistakes. I pushed myself up 1000ft inclines and scurried to pack/unpack in torrential weather. I endured silence with myself until I actually learnt to appreciate it and then seek it.

The adventure taught me a lot more than I could have ever imagined.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I wish I could say fine culinary skills, but my one pancake recipe will have to suffice. I enjoy cooking a family meal, often an experimentation that is backed up with take out. I am without a doubt, an animal lover through and through. I have had a lot of experience caring for animals (my own and others). I am always up for outdoor adventures. Discovering new places and trying new things with anyone I can bring along. I enjoy being a supportive friend and housemate. It goes without question that I always clean up after myself, and I never hesitate to help anyone out in the same way.

Countries I’ve Visited
