I love a good conversation and generally dislike inane small talk.

Good conversation topics could be:
- Ice hockey (honestly I'm a bit obsessed, so I'll probably bring it up at some point regardless)
- Tennis (just started playing and will accept any offer to hit a few balls, whether I am surfing or hosting)
- Science (recent engineering grad and science nerd)
- Philosophy (huge fan of existentialism and all the inherent crises)

I haven't traveled much but I have enjoyed meeting local people and getting away from the more touristy activities when I do. I wish to learn more about how cultures shape the individuals that live within them. I've only lived in one country (Canada) for any extended period of time, but am hoping to change that by attending graduate school in Germany. I want to discover and confront my cultural assumptions and all the biases that have come with living in a relatively isolated nation my whole life.

Movies: I like comedies, but most of my favourites are drama/thrillers/suspense (not really sure what genre they fit into) like Sleepers, Lucky Number Slevin, The Prestige, Shawshank Redemption, Snatch, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Memento. Pretty much anything with a good surprise ending that naturally evolves from the plot (i.e. isn't forced).

Books: Catch 22, The Count of Monte Cristo, The Gentlemen Bastard Series by Scott Lynch, The Lightbringer Series by Brent Weeks

I enjoy cooking but everything I make ends up tasting the same somehow
Confirmation of a lot of Canadian stereotypes eh. A good one I just found out about is that we thank bus drivers when we get off the bus (we do).
