About Me

Hello! I'm Marta, an Italian University student, enthusiastic traveller. Last year I started an Erasmus in Porto, Portugal, for my master in Clinical Psychology, and I fell in love with the city. Up to now, I'm still in Portugal, working and studying. I'm a yoga teacher, climber, and a great talker. I'm learning Portuguese, and by now I think I can say I understand it - almost - well. I love outdoor activities, sports, and enlightening conversations.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Since I moved away from Italy and started travelling, I realized how important it is the concept of welcoming and taking care. I'm a great supporter of welcoming the others, expecially when it comes to a world that is becoming more and more expensive and elitist. I wish everybody could have the same possibilities in life and, since up to now that's not possible, I try at least to to my part when it comes to the traveling field :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Fitzgerald is one of my favourite author - The Great Gatsby is my confort book.
When it comes to music, I can say I'm a great pop, indie, folk lover. I've been to every concert of The 1975 in Italy (now they're too expensive!) in my teenage era. Now that I'm in Porto, I adore going to jam sessions and listening to some live music, and I love to discover new spotify playlists - share yours with me!
I'm not a huge cinema fan, just because I don't really spend much time on the laptop to watch movies or tv series, but I'm also a great supported of the nights spent at home on Netflix.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My first multi-pitch climbing in Italy! We started climbing at midday, got to the top of the mountain at 18. From there, we could see the sea down the horizon. I remember I thought "wow, I got here", that is something I often realize when I reach the top in climbing; but I never got that high and I never climbed for that long. My friend, that was with me, was so caring and happy, I'm glad I shared that moment with him. It has been so special.

Teach, Learn, Share

Forever a learner. I'm in the path of making Portuguese a language I'm confortable with, and I need to force myself in that. I'm also an high school tutor, for which I help kids and students in literary subjects (psychology is my strenght!), and I'm a yoga teacher: sharing practice feeds my hearth. I'll be forever a learner also in this journey of yoga.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Some yoga practices together, meditation moments, and bad jokes :) Unfortunately, I have zero cooking skills, despite my Italian roots.
