About Me

I think you will find me to be a good host. I may be available to host sometime in late October

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet you. As a host, to share my beautiful part of the world. Travelling alone, as I often do, can get lonely; knowing that I'll spend some time with welcoming people helps. And I am a "budget traveler."

Interests

Art, nature and environment, railroading, sky, words, history, gardening, and so much more.

Music, Movies, and Books

Director Andre Tarkovsky. Foreign movies and movies from 30's to 50s/60s. Music--currently most played: Krishna Das, Niel Young, Peter, Paul and Mary. Books: my field nature guides, often whatever I am currently reading. Visual artists: Hudson River School, Charles Burchfield, Andrew Dove, other American late 1800s to 1920s.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Besides NEW YORK CITY, there is so much more to see in the wonderful NEW YORK STATE. I live about in the middle of the state, near UTICA, ROME, SYRACUSE, on the way to ROCHESTER, BUFFALO, TORONTO, OTTAWA. It is easy to get to my home via AMTRAK to Rome or Utica (about 4.5 hours), or by flying into Syracuse. If you are planning much time in NYC, wouldn't you want to relax in clean and beautiful "Upstate NY?" You should give yourself some of the world's most beautiful train riding from Penn Station, NYC, up the Hudson River, through Albany, along the "Erie Canal" (see also Mohawk Valley, Mohawk River, Barge Canal, on Internet "New York State"), maybe with a day trip to the ADIRONDACKS.
With me, you might enjoy local sightseeing/exploration, and cooking, "chilliing out," talk, and laughter on a large rural property.
