ABOUT ME

Hi! My name is Martha and I'm originally from Wisconsin. I'm about to finish my master's degree in social science from a university in Finland (University of Jyvaskyla) though I'm back in the US now and interested in new people and places. In my free time I like to cook, read, translate, find fun things to do in the city, be outside and spend time with my friends and family. I have studied abroad a number of times (Austria, Germany, Spain, Costa Rica, Uruguay) so I always like to meet new people who enjoy sharing travel stories.

Though this doesn't directly involve couch surfing, I met my current and long-term partner on a similar website without intending to. You never know who you'll meet!

I've only done this once before and it was a great experience! Unfortunately I can't host anyone right now but it could happen somewhere down the line.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last winter, my friend and I traveled to Lapland and steered huskies on a sleigh. It was hands down one of the coolest things I've ever done!!!

Teach, Learn, Share

I think you can learn from anyone. I enjoy meeting people who are open and respectful. I can teach some basic phrases in German, Spanish or Mandinka (from Gambia) for anyone who is interested!
