My name is Martin, I'm from Slovakia (it's a small European country), and I'm in my early thirties. I work as a graphic designer (mostly industrial design) - but I decided I need a break to explore the world.

I am a calm person - I don't like noisy bars, big parties, chaos and crowds. I much rather go somewhere where nobody else goes, and experience something unusual, something which others doesn't usually see.

I tend to be polite, respectful, helpful and easy-going. I don't take everything seriously, and I try to find humour in every situation.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Currently I'm on my one-year trip around Asia, starting in Japan and continuing through South Korea, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Myanmar... and other beautiful countries.

Interests

Traveling and experiencing new and unusual things. I try to re-learn how to play the piano. And of course, audiovisual media - mainly movies, television shows, film music, and videogames. I'm a big nerd!

Music, Movies, and Books

So many! My favourite movies are Star Wars (the original ones of course), Indiana Jones, Aliens, Falling Down, Battle Royale and Evil Dead.

But my biggest love must be film music, I adore full orchestral compositions by John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, John Debney, and also music by lesser-knowns like Masamichi Amano, or Toshihiko Sahashi.

I don't have much time for books, but my goal is to try and read more. Fantasy and sci-fi are among my favourites, and I always happily devour anything from satirical genius Jon Ronson.
