Overview
About Me
Hello, fellow travellers!
No matter where you're from or where you are right now, I look forward to meeting you, either at my place or at yours!
I'm a cosmopolitan traveller: German but of British origin, I've lived in Brittany (France) for decades.
I usually travel by taking road trips and try to meet locals whenever possible. This allows me to exchange ideas and learn new things about life. I strongly believe in Mark Twain's quote, "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness."
These trips have taken me to almost 100 countries and every continent. Well, except for Antarctica! ;-)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Meeting people people in/from other regions and cultures of our small planet is my main motivation for being a traveler. So living the spirit of couchsurfing is a logical choice.
Interests
Traveling and meeting people!
Apart from that: after many years of enjoying and teaching Skiing and Skydiving, followed by Hot Air Ballooning, I recently became a scuba dive instructor.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
There are so many things, but the highlights were always to meet wonderful people of all different kind, all over the world. Anyway, the most amazing thing is being a father!
Otherwise I was very lucky to have lived quite a few amazing moments, so that I cannot really point out just the one single thing.
As they were at the same time impressive and often making me feel less important, the ones that influenced me most were probably:
// staying with Indegenous families in Inner Borneo, Africa, northern Alaska...
// piloting hot air balloons at low altitude over India, discovering the country in a very special way
// climbing inside the ice-blue serac of a Norwegian glacier
// diving inside a sunken warship
// learning how to ride myself an elephant, in the jungle of northern Laos, as part of a biological project
// discovering wildlife in various parts of our stunning world, like swimming with dolphins in the open ocean or scuba diving with sharks
// built a wooden raft and for a few days slowly descended a river, in complete harmony with nature.
// for hours and hours admiring the stars above the Saharian desert
