About Me

Where do I start?

Like everyone on here, I love traveling, learning new languages and meeting people from different parts of the world.

For the past five years I've been researching and writing about modern Middle Eastern history, and that's allowed me to spend a lot of time in the Middle East during a really interesting time.

More recently I've been interested in traveling to Latin America, and I'm really excited to learn about a new part of the world.

I love to laugh and make other people laugh, have a really quirky sense of humor that not everyone gets :)

I don't take myself too seriously, and really appreciate people who are humble, down to earth and have a positive outlook on life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I travel I've found that couchsurfing is a great way to meet locals, and the friends I've made through couchsurfing have always been really interesting, open minded and adventurous people.

I've also found that couchsurfing is great for language exchanges. Right now I'm trying to learn Spanish, so if anyone can help me I can definitely help you with any of the languages that I know.

I'm also happy to give people advice about Washington DC or to show them around.

Interests

Traveling, bicycling, reading, trying, failing and trying again.

Music, Movies, and Books

Too many to list, but I can talk endlessly about Hip-hop, the Wire and Game of Thrones.
In my twenties I was also heavily into Karl Marx and Antonio Gramsci, so their writings are always going to have a special place in my heart.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Participated in protests in Egypt on June 30th, 2013.

I also recently did a 12 day Ayahuasca retreat in the Amazon rainforest which was incredible!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can help anyone practice any of the languages I've listed, or help anyone that's new to DC and wants to see more of it.
