HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Up to now I did not manage to find a host on different
occasions (Marseille, Rome). But the experience I made with hosting CS guests were very pleasant and I really enjoyed it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

After joining CS in December 2011 I was pleased about it and I was happy to be a good host to my first guest - a nice and encouraging experience.
But looking for a host was not so successful up to now.
So I tried to find a couch for a week's holiday in Marseille/France in March 2012 and wrote several personal messages to members there. Unfortunately, I had to book a hotel as I did not get any answers in time. The CS ambassador in Marseille I wrote to to ask for help declared my being illegal to CS - as I didn't have a photo on my personal page. As I don't possess digital
photo equipment I didn't know to manage this. Meanwhile, i was able to repair this "default" by help of one of my students...
Unfortunately, my experiences with CS I had to make in Rome were also disapointing for me, as well. I started writing couch requests more than four weeks before my arrival and my request was also visible to any CS member there. There were about 10 detailed personal request from me. Most people did not answer at all
and others just told me in few words they could not host at that time. (There was ONE very kind and friendly answer giving me also useful hints for my time in Rome). I even posted an emergency request on the special CS-Rome page - no answer.
Again I had to stay in hotels and did not meet anybody from CS...
Meanwhile I was able to host different people at my place...all of them were very nice!

Centres d'intérêt

I LOVE travelling...It's great to be in another country - even more when I'm familiar with the language spoken there.
Photography is a gig hobby of mine (but I don't possess a digital equipment up to now).
I like speaking foreign languages and learning / improving my linguistic skills. I'm also interested very much in history and politics.

Watching the sun go up over the Hollywood-sign in California, listening to the cries of sea-lions
loitering around the wharfs of San Francisco...
Seeing huge eruptions of Etna volcano on Sicily, Italy at night when I was a child.
Watching the "Seven Sisters" ( i.e. the white cliffs of Dover) at full moon from the ferryboat when I travelled to England for the first time as a child.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I always like to learn new things about cooking esp. mediterranean cuisine.
I would like to show and explain my town to CouchSurfers who are intersted to learn about Bremen and it's history.
Myself I'm curious to learn about other ways to live in a different culture...there so many things to learn!
