About Me

Hi there!!
I'm Martina, an incurably curious Italian girl, born and raised in a small countryside village in northeastern Italy, called Cormòns.

Since 2021, I've been living in Venice, not quite the postcard version, but it still managed to make me fall in love with it. It was a city I had dreamed of for so long, always finding it inspiring and unique. As a kid, I used to say I wanted to live somewhere you could see the stars, where the sea was close, and where there was a theatre just across the street. Somehow, I found almost exactly that - minus a proper seaside…but hey, the lagoon still does the trick!

To pay for university and life, I've worked in quite a few different places: I started in catering, then worked in a traditional Venetian masks shop, pulled pints in a craft beer pub, and now I teach fresh pasta making.
I won’t lie, my social batteries recharge when I’m on my own. I truly value alone time, and I think that helps me respect that same need in others. I’d say I’m a pretty respectful person in general, but also an incurable curious soul. Especially on sunny days (yep, totally weather-sensitive) I’m full of energy and eager to explore. Apparently, I have a talent for stumbling into oddly entertaining situations, or so my friends say. Truth is, I’ve always been drawn to stories, whether through books, RPG games (wanna try playing Dungeons and Dragons with me??), conversations, or music. I did theatre as a kid, joined an amateur musical group for a few years, and now I’m learning to play the electric guitar. I love writing, listening, and throwing myself into new experiences.
If something feels challenging and a bit absurd, chances are I’m already halfway into it.

At the end of the day, I’d really love to step a bit out of my comfort zone and meet some new friends…so, if you’ve read this far, maybe we’re already off to a good start!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For a long time, I used to be a pretty reserved person. With time, I realized how much joy it brings me to share adventures and moments with others, and Couchsurfing felt like the perfect way to embrace that. Right now I’m on the road and will be traveling for several months. I’m here because I’d love to experience each place through the eyes of the people who live there and build meaningful connections along the way.
Once I’m back home, I can’t wait to switch roles and start hosting as many amazing people as possible!

Music, Movies, and Books

Back in middle school, I used to bike to class listening to Rime of the Ancient Mariner...it lasted exactly as long as my ride from home to school. Now I’m traveling with The Lord of the Rings in my backpack. I love rock and metal, but music is a language, and I love it in many of its forms. I’m deeply fond of English literature in general. Shakespeare will always be an eternal model to me. Tolkien still walks beside many of my thoughts throughout the day.
And as for everything else...let's talk about it in person!
