Hello guys,

I am Martin from Austria and I am 18 years old! Currently, I take part in an Erasmus+ Volunteer Project in Spain and therefore live in Madrid. The reason I am doing this is to get to know new people, learn about different cultures and to leave my comfort zone. My free time is usually spent traveling as much as possible and doing a great deal of sport. At the moment I do lots of running and calisthenics (bodyweight training) but my favorite sport is certainly mountain biking (which I sadly can't pursue in Madrid). Apart from that my other passions are hiking, skiing, meeting people and as I already mentioned traveling.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Primarily I want to join the couch surfing community in order to meet new people and get more connection. Due to the fact that I sometimes travel by myself, I discovered that it is much more fulfilling to meet people and sleep at their couch than to go for a hotel or hostel. In addition, I enjoy the feeling of uncertainty before you meet new people and love it to make new friends!

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite Music is House Music, especially Tropical House

My favorite Movie is Forrest Gump. This is interesting because I normally do not like that kind of genre, but this film somehow managed to touch my heart.

As it comes to books it's more difficult. I usually don't like to read novels but love to read biographies and books about science, future developments, and spirituality. (funny combination)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It was a normal boring school day in 2017. Just as every other day. School finished and I was walking to my bus. But then it happened. Suddenly I saw this purple piece of paper in front of me on the street. It made me curious and I decided to pick it up. As I unfold it in my hands I couldn't believe my eyes. It was a 500€ bill. 500. How could this be possible? I immediately thought it must be fake but after further investigation, I was sure it wasn't. This was a hell lot of money for me back then so I had no clue what to do next. Shall I keep it? Just throw it away and forget about it? Or bring it to the lost and found office in my town? I have to admit that temptation to keep it was high, but I finally decided to take it to the lost and found office, so whoever lost the money had a chance to get it back. I am sure this was the right decision!
