ABOUT ME

I work at a great non-profit (bethematch.org). My job involves a fair amount of travel. I love to take side trips when I can (on the cheap).

I play in a SKA band (umbrellabed.com) that has toured a few times which involves a lot of sleeping on couches/floors. I prefer that mode of travel to the business hotel because the people are more interesting. I like meeting people, hearing their story, seeing the world through different eyes.

What else? I've got three kids that are great. I am obsessed with human genetic diversity and the immune system. I make my own beer. I love beer. Live music is best. Bumper stickers should be issued.

Books by Neil Stephenson. I am lugging Anathem's 960 pages across Europe right now. Science books. I like all movies. Lost In Translation is my favorite. I like all music. Radiohead is my favorite.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I carried bone marrow (several times) between countries. Anonymous donors giving the most precious of cells to an unknown genetically compatible patient in a different land. The look on the family's face when they see the cooler and know that there is hope.
