About Me

I am a midwesterner gone rogue. Though us friendly folk from the midwest are known for being homebodies, I acquired a gypsy gene from my mother's side of the family. I'm a wandering yogi with an appetite for adventure who enjoys the finer things of life such as: meeting new friends and enjoying fantastic music. I have taught elementary students around the world and am now transitioning into a new phase of life: the official NeoGyspy. My passions include: interesting people and conversations, nature, and new experiences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am couch surfing because I believe in the couchsurfing movement! I often ponder how interconnected humans are and participating in a couch surfing experience allows one to see that first hand. I think that there is a beautiful alchemy in people helping others they may not know mixed with the potential for authentic travel experience. Seeing a new town or country through the eyes of a person actually living in that community makes travel far more interesting.

Interests

Interests of mine include: Reading great books, Socio-cultural anthropology, sustainable development and permaculture design, holistic wellness, yoga, dancing, and creating art. I am also a traveling henna artist and gourmet grilled cheese master.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I took a 10 day canoe trip on the Wabash River and camped on islands all along the way. It was from my husband's home town (Wabash, Indiana) to my home town (Terre Haute, IN) It was freaking awesome, and I felt so accomplished having traveled without a motor on a natural highway for so long.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to practice my spanish so that I may one day achieve fluency so any Spanish I can learn from a host or a guest is wonderful! I would love to learn about the life and story of the people opening their homes to me and the guests I invite in. I love the sharing of food and favorite recipes! Also, yoga or anything along the lines of that is always something I like to learn from others.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach yoga and henna and share stories about India. I can also help others with nutrition and cooking from my integrated nutrition background. I can also teach English as a second language.
