Off to Spain and Morrocco for some serious immersion in food and fun with the help of some new friends and their couches!!Then back to USA to Build out a van and travel my own country with my girlfriend!
So it goes.
Back in the states I have worked as a cook, a sous chef, a bike mechanic, a Research & Development Chef for a large "On Demand" food company. My goal is to be able to work and consult around the world to create better food systems whether it be through new food products, supply chain, improving nutrition, etc. I have a BS in Food Science if you are interested in that side of cooking. My girlfriend is also a cook so we are going to try and make this work.
I am an super easygoing and love getting insight from new friends around the world. You like a certain local band in your village? I want to go! You playing some frisbee on the beach? Let's do it! Let's meet some rad people, visit some rad places
During my first solo travel stint, I quickly realized that community is the only way to experience the world and I have loved getting to know other people from all cultures.
I tend to steer away from the normal tourist things and seek out relationships. My greatest meals and greatest parties have been thanks to couchsurfing hosts and fellow backpackers.
When I was living in Cambodia I was working in "responsible tourism". This has made me the "people and experience" traveler rather than "seeing the sights" traveler. I helped run a bicycle tour in the countryside where young Khmer men and woman would take tourists from all over the world on bike tours around Battambang to teach about culture, food, the impact of the Khmer Rouge, and to practice English.
My free time in the US has recently consisted of walking and biking around San Francisco while working in my friend's Hawaiian Food Restaurant. I love going to live music ... in 2015 I went to 90 different music events (shows/festivals).
