About Me
CURRENT MISSION
not regret my time in Europe!
ABOUT ME
I am generally bubbly. I prefer to be positive in my attitude and I have a deep faith that requires that I go beyond the superficial in my everyday dealings. I look for people and situations that can help me grow as a person and that will inspire my writing. I am passionate about things like social justice and the impact of media.
I like to think that I'm more interesting than this profile makes me sound.
I'm finishing my Master's in Spanish right now and doing my thesis on Mexican film. I don't know what to do with my life...I am applying right now to go back to the US in the summer and study Filmmaking...we'll see what happens after that! I really want to work in the media full-time.
Interesting fact: if you see any movie set during the American Civil War (or a little before or after), there is a 90% chance that hats made by my dad are included somewhere (latest movie: 3:10 to Yuma). Yes, that's right. My dad makes historical hats. The summers of my youth were spent traversing the country with a trailer full of them in order to sell them to reenactors.
PHILOSOPHY
"Every moment and every event of every man's life on earth plants something in his soul. For just as the wind carries thousands of winged seeds, so each moment brings with it germs of spiritual vitality that come to rest imperceptibly in the minds and wills of men. Most of these unnumbered seeds perish and are lost, because men are not prepared to receive them: for such seeds as these cannot spring up anywhere except in the good soil of freedom, spontaneity and love."- Thomas Merton
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have both surfed and hosted. Never had a bad experience. I am into CouchSurfing for the connections and sharing, not because I want to take advantage of people for free, so I hope that people treat me with the same respect.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Surfed two couches in Italy. They were a PERFECT introduction to the world of CSing. I learned infinitely more than if I had just done the tourist thing, which I'm so sick of.
Surfed also in Dublin.
Have hosted two people.
Interests
going wherever spontaneity leads, laughing in the face of impracticality, singing/laughing at high volumes, having long conversations with interesting people, watching people and imagining what their lives are like, inventing stories in my head and hoping that one day I can make films out of them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Pet a penguin in his natural habitat off the coast of Chile.
Teach, Learn, Share
If you have a guitar, I can play various songs, many of them by Bob Dylan. I can recommend obscure Mexican films. I can knit. I have a lot of random knowledge about the history of the Spanish language and literature rattling around in my brain. I can tell you a lot about the different phases of historical hatwear. I can show you how to do American folk dances (more fun than they sound, I swear!)
I love to cook and want to learn more about cooking and food in other cultures. I'm not Vegan, but I can make a pretty good Vegan curry sauce.
I want to meet as many people as I can and learn about what makes them tick.
