WHY I STARTED TRAVELING / POR QUÉ EMPECÉ A VIAJAR
I lived 30 years without traveling. In the past, I struggled with depression, low self-esteem and anxiety. I thought life was only about working, saving money and achieving material goals. When I finally got my own apartment — something I always believed was “the goal” — I found myself asking in silence: “And now what? Is this everything?”

Viví 30 años sin viajar. En el pasado lidié con depresión, baja autoestima y ansiedad. Pensaba que la vida solo consistía en trabajar, ahorrar y cumplir metas materiales. Cuando finalmente tuve mi propio apartamento — algo que siempre creí que era “la meta” — me encontré preguntándome en silencio: “¿Y ahora qué? ¿Esto es todo?”

HOW I FOUND COUCHSURFING / CÓMO LLEGUÉ A COUCHSURFING
I started hosting travelers because I had a free room and wanted to help. For me, traveling was always a luxury reserved for people with a lot of money. I thought it was impossible for someone like me. But listening to my guests — people with different lifestyles and budgets — I realized that traveling is not only about money, but about mindset. They shared tips and experiences that completely opened my mind.

Comencé a recibir viajeros porque tenía un cuarto libre y quería ayudar. Para mí viajar siempre fue un lujo reservado para personas con mucho dinero. Pensaba que era algo imposible para alguien como yo. Pero escuchando a mis huéspedes — personas con distintos estilos de vida y presupuestos — entendí que viajar no es solo cuestión de dinero, sino de mentalidad. Ellos me compartieron consejos y experiencias que me abrieron la mente por completo.

MY CURRENT JOURNEY / MI VIAJE ACTUAL
With a lot of fear (honestly, I almost canceled many times), I bought my first ticket to Europe. Thank God I had the courage to go, and now I’m traveling solo across Europe and the Middle East, respecting the allowed time in each country 😅. I will be traveling until mid-May 2026… And who knows? Maybe after that I’ll explore China too 🙂

Con mucho miedo (de verdad, estuve a punto de cancelar muchas veces), compré mi primer boleto a Europa. Gracias a Dios tuve la valentía de hacerlo, y hoy estoy viajando sola por Europa y Medio Oriente, respetando los tiempos permitidos en cada país 😅. Estaré fuera hasta mediados de mayo del 2026… ¿Y quién sabe? Tal vez después me anime a explorar China también 🙂

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m on Couchsurfing because I love experiencing local life beyond tourism. For me, traveling is not only about seeing beautiful places, but about understanding how people truly live. My travel rhythm is slow — I like staying in one place for three weeks or even a month to truly understand it, and then I move somewhere else. I don’t like rushing or having a strict list of “must do” things. I prefer to let life surprise me. Couchsurfing allows that — because here, plans are born through people, not schedules. During my time in Couchsurfing, I’ve had such beautiful experiences that they still surprise me when I remember them. I’ve made friendships that I feel I’ll carry in my heart forever… and I’ve also hosted people in my home that I never heard from again. And that’s okay. I learned that not all connections need to be forever to be meaningful. Some friendships stay, others just pass through our life for a few days… but all of them leave a trace. That’s why I’m here: open to whatever God and life want to give me, without expectations but with an available heart. Because in the end, the world is family.

Estoy en Couchsurfing porque me gusta conocer culturas y la vida local fuera del turismo tradicional. Para mí, viajar no es solo ver lugares bonitos, sino entender cómo vive la gente de verdad. Mi estilo de viaje es tranquilo: me gusta quedarme en un lugar tres semanas o incluso un mes para conocerlo de verdad, y luego moverme a otro. No me gusta viajar con apuro ni con una lista rígida de “cosas que tengo que hacer”. Prefiero dejar que la vida me sorprenda. Y Couchsurfing permite eso — porque aquí los planes nacen a través de las personas, no de los itinerarios. En este tiempo usando Couchsurfing, he vivido experiencias tan lindas que aún me sorprendo cuando las recuerdo. He hecho amistades que siento que llevaré en el corazón siempre… y también he recibido personas en mi casa con quienes luego nunca más supe de ellas. Y está bien. He aprendido que no todas las conexiones tienen que ser eternas para ser valiosas. Algunas amistades se quedan, y otras solo pasan por nuestra vida por unos días… pero todas dejan una huella. Por eso estoy aquí: abierta a lo que Dios y la vida quieran regalarme, sin expectativas pero con el corazón disponible. Porque al final, el mundo es familia.

I love taking landscape photos — on this trip I made it my goal to improve at it 📸 I enjoy visiting supermarkets and comparing prices and products that don’t exist in my country (for me that’s also part of understanding a culture 😄) I like recording videos and city moments. I create some content, but I’m not an influencer — I just document my memories on Instagram like a personal diary I’m interested in seeing how people actually live in each country: their daily routine, what they buy, what they eat, how they commute I love hearing stories from local people — it makes the city feel alive to me ✨ I also enjoy learning about other people’s faith. I’m Christian and I feel it’s beautiful to have a connection with God, but I respect every belief and way of thinking 🙏

Me encanta tomar fotos de paisajes — en este viaje me propuse mejorar en eso 📸 Disfruto visitar supermercados y comparar precios y productos que no existen en mi país (para mí también es parte de conocer una cultura 😄) Me gusta grabar videos y momentos en la ciudad. One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Something incredible I did for myself was to build a relationship with God. I know it may sound religious or unusual, but it marked a before and after in many aspects of my life.

I can teach you basic photography and how to pose for a good picture (including LinkedIn 😄), and I can teach you some Spanish phrases or Peruvian slang. If you ever feel sad or need it — as a Christian, I can also pray for you, but only if you ask for it or want it.
I love learning how people actually live in each country: what they buy at the supermarket, what they eat, how they move around. I also enjoy learning new words and listening to life stories.
And above all, I love sharing real conversations, calm walks, respect, faith and gratitude.
