HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I think there are too many people in the world for one person to reach, but I also think there could be more people in our inner/outer circles that we can reach out to once in a while, i.e. care about how they feel, what they are up to, etc. And I have too much warmth not to share. The trouble is that we, human beings, are hard-wired to show our warmth to people we like.

However, I've been trying to bring myself to be kind to people I don’t like because I strongly believe that can change the world for the better. I am trying to populate those inner/outer circles with people I like and people I dislike, so far successful in populating them with people I like :)

Dear Russian couchsurfers, I believe Russia is a very dangerous autocracy and the world is a much better place without unrepenting and unapologetic Russia, which means I want Russia to be a democracy rather than stay on this current path to self-destruction. When Russians repent wreaking communism and all the post communism havoc on the rest of the world, like Germans repented fascism, I will reconsider my views. You are not welcome in my home if you are part of this unrepenting and unapologetic Russia.

There's no way the list of my favourite books and movies can fit in this box, and then I hate anything that sounds like name dropping but your favourite authors/movies says something about what you like. And I thought I'd rather say what I like. Saul Bellow, Knut Hamsun, William Faulkner, Cervantes, George Orwell, Czeslaw Milosz, Thomas Mann, stroppy yet sweet Doris Lessing, Gibran Khalil, Oscar Wilde, Virginia Woolf, Shota Rustaveli and other Georgian poets, James Joyce, Joseph Conrad, Astrid Lindgren,Selma Lagerlof, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Leo Tolstoy, Marcel Proust, Arthur Rimbaud and many other French poets, J.D.Salinger, Emily Dickinson, Jane Austen, Laurence Stern (where would we be without Stern), Shakespeare are a few of my favourite authors.
