ABOUT ME

My name is Matan and I live with my boyfriend Avner and our 2 cats in a cozy apartment in Jerusalem.
I work as a tour guide in Japan which means I am in Japan a few months each year.

I enjoy meeting people from all around the world and knowing all about their culture, experiences and life stories.
I'm very open minded and liberal in my Outlook on life.
I appreciate a good sense of humor and I like to laugh about everything (and I mean EVERYTHING).
I love nature, music, food, History, Languages, things that make me laugh and to make others laugh.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When I host - I like showing people around, while learning about their culture :)
Usually when I have surfers over, I try to take them to places of interest that I can also enjoy - museums, special restaurants or cafes, favorite spots in Israel and so on. If my time is free, I will gladly do that.

When I'm surfing - Obviously, I try to pick hosts that seem nice and that have something in common with me. That said, I'm very open minded about all different kinds of life styles and opinions.

I'm curious and talkative.
Avner is more of a shy person, but he is curious about our guests nonetheless :)
I enjoy getting to know my hosts as well as my guests.

I have met some wonderful people along the way.

I spent 1 month in Europe doing mostly couch surfing, and it was such a unique experience! I've met some really generous people, who welcomed me in the most heartwarming of ways.
When I hosted people I took advantage of the opportunity to go to places in my country that I rarely go to like Ein Gedi or the old city in Jerusalem at night - wonderful experience!

I spent 3 weeks couchsurfing around Japan. That was nice experience although Japanese flats are definitely the smallest I've seen :)

Interests

Theater, Drums, Music, singing, Movies, Food & restaurants, good pubs, museums, Travelling. I have too many interests - I'm a very curious person!

Avner is interested in Basketball, expecially NBA (he is a fan of the San Antonio Spurs). He's also into old movies and music, Fantasy and si-fi books, woodcraft and DIY,

Books:
I enjoyed Harry potter as a teenager :)
Shogun.
Some books in Hebrew which non Israelis wouldn't know.
Generally speaking, I enjoy refernce books (history, nature, science) much more than litterature.

TV:
a HUGE fan of Family guy and American dad, pretty much anything that comes out of Seth MacFarlane!
I also enjoy south park.
I love national geographic, nature shows and science shows related to space exploration and biology. I'm really more into documentaries than into regular movies.

Music:

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

How can I choose just one??

* Went to a Safari trip in Kenya.
* played a Taiko drum in Japan.
* Spent a whole day taking pictures in Vondelpark, Amsterdam.
* Travelled to Alaska
